Skinners started with a simple idea – and became a global movement for natural movement and functional shoes. While law student Petr Procházka was on a summer job in Norway, he noticed that his friend was suffering from walking in regular shoes. To help him, he sewed a sole onto a sock – and the first Skinners prototype was born. Back in the Czech Republic, he took the concept further, and soon the product was popular far beyond the country’s borders.
Skinners are neither shoes nor socks – they are something entirely their own. They are worn by hundreds of thousands of people in over 100 countries. The brand grew thanks to crowdfunding campaigns on platforms like Kickstarter and Hithit, where support from users has made it possible to continue developing new models. For example, Skinners Comfort 2.0 , which has a wider toe space and a removable insole, was designed with even better comfort and function in mind.
The company has also entered the world of barefoot shoes – but with a focus on combining the barefoot feeling with style and elegance . The company's own barefoot shoe model has become a success in Europe and received great impact through one of the Czech Republic's most successful crowdfunding campaigns, which raised over 7.5 million Czech crowns.
Skinners stands for freedom of movement, sustainability and innovation – and the journey has just begun.
