Knitido® – Toe socks designed for natural movement and long-lasting foot comfort. Knitido® was founded in Japan in 1981 by Takahiro Idobata, who was tired of conventional socks. Conventional socks isolate the toes in a common "chamber", which can lead to sweat, cold, reduced sensation and, in the long run, misalignment and pain. Idobata found the solution when he got his hands on a pair of Spanish toe socks – an idea that led to the development of a unique knitting machine and the start of the first Japanese company to manufacture toe socks.

Initially, the product was a hard sell – it looked strange and was more expensive. But over time, both women and men discovered the benefits: reduced foot odor, warmer feet, better balance and a more natural stride. By separating the toes, the foot regained its natural function and the entire body’s movement patterns improved. Today, Knitido is run by the second generation of the Idobata family and has its production in Wakayama, Japan, with 56 employees under fair working conditions. The socks are exported all over the world and have been in Europe via Berlin since 2007. The company is constantly working to improve its products with the goal of providing feet with protection, freedom of movement and health – for life.
