Viking Namsos TEX – the very first barefoot shoes from Viking in our collection! With these shoes on, kids are ready for play – in any weather. Viking Namsos is a lightweight, lined and water-resistant barefoot shoe for children. A wide toe box, flexible rubber sole and flat insole provide a natural barefoot feel, while the TEX membrane keeps moisture out. Two Velcro straps and a handy pull tab make them easy to put on and take off – perfect for all of life’s little adventures!

To get the right size, do this: Measure your child's feet by placing the foot inside a box or with the heel against a wall. Let the child put weight on the foot and measure to the longest toe from the wall. This is the child's foot measurement. Since this model has a wool lining that takes up some space, we recommend adding a little more to the foot measurement than usual, about 1.5 - 2 cm, to get the right size. You can see the inside measurements of the shoe below.

On-the-foot feel:
The Namsos model is easy for kids to open wide, so they can put the shoes on and take them off by themselves! This shoe uses the same outsole as the Froddo Zeru Tex, so if that model fits your child well, you can expect a similar fit here – though of course, seams, materials and other details can affect the overall feel. Elliot, age 3, has high-volume, regular-width feet, and this model fits him really well. We were actually a bit surprised – we had expected it to be too tight over his instep, but we were wrong. Maria, age 4, has low-volume, narrow feet, and the shoe fits her nicely too. There's enough space for a wool sock, but thanks to the velcro straps, the fit can still be tightened so the shoe feels secure even on her lower-volume foot. Both Elliot and Maria have foot lengths of 15.5 cm, and in this model, they’re wearing size 27. As mentioned, Elliot’s feet are high but not particularly wide. So if your child has feet that are both wide and high, this model might feel too tight. But if the foot is similar to Elliot’s – or wide but slightly lower – this model will most likely work really well!
Care Instructions:
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth. We recommend treating the shoes with Collonil Protect & Care spray before first use and regularly thereafter to maintain their water-repellent properties.
