Altra Superior 7 is a lightweight and versatile trail shoe for runners who desire simplicity, a natural feel, and performance without unnecessary weight or excessive cushioning. Altra Superior 7 has everything one could wish for; a flat zero drop sole with just the right amount of cushioning, combined with a wonderfully wide toe box where all toes have space to work effectively during the push-off.
Please note that Altra shoes are not barefoot shoes but cushioned, lightweight running shoes; perfect when you want a foot-shaped shoe but desire cushioning during training.

Widetoes – shoes that look like feet, not the other way around.
To get the right size, do this: Measure your feet from heel to toe (e.g. with your heel against a wall and measure to the longest toe.) This is your foot measurement. Add about 1-1.5 cm extra space to get the right size. Keep in mind that you may want to have a lot of extra space in running shoes because your feet swell when you get hot during exercise.

Feel on the foot:
Superior fits so well on the foot! This updated model of Superior 7 is noticeably made with more volume than the previous Superior 6 model. The shoes are still the narrowest of our Altra models. Lina has a wide and normal-high foot and her foot fits really well in these shoes. She initially feels it is a bit tight over the instep, but tries loosening the laces and finds that the adjustment helps a lot. Lina would take her usual size in this one. Fanny has a high and wide foot and this model is too tight over the instep for her. So if you have that combination of foot shapes, this model will likely be too tight for you. If you want a roomier shoe with the same grippy lugs as this one, we recommend trying the model Lone Peak 9+ or Lone Peak 9+ Wide instead.
