Altra Escalante 4 has everything that good running shoes for asphalt should have: low shoe weight, tight fit, comfortable cushioning - but unlike traditional running shoes, also a wide toe box and a flat zero-drop sole. In this updated version, the midsole has been made with new material and the shoes are therefore even lighter and more flexible than previous models. You get the best of both worlds; a lightweight, foot-shaped and healthy shoe yet with cushioning that allows you to give your all on the roads without having to worry about running technique. Here, the only thing that might limit you is your own fitness – not the shoes!

Please note that Altra shoes run small in size, so you often need to take one size larger than usual.

▷ How to measure your feet (video)

To get the right size, do this:

Measure your feet from heel to toe (e.g. with your heel against a wall and measure to the longest toe.) This is your foot measurement. Add about 0.8-1.5 cm extra room to get the correct size. Keep in mind that you may want to have a lot of extra room in running shoes because your feet swell when you get hot during exercise.

These measurements are checked by Widetoes and indicate the inside measurement:

Altra Escalante 4 is a beloved shoe for those who want to walk and run on hard surfaces with a wide toe box for the toes. A foot-shaped running shoe that gives space for toes to spread out! The Escalante has a low shoe weight and is incredibly light and comfortable on the foot. The sole is completely flat from heel to toe, with no heel lift. The sole has a total thickness of 24 mm, which feels pleasantly cushioned in terms of barefoot shoe standards. The outsole is designed for hard surfaces such as gravel roads and asphalt.

The upper is made of textile and fits comfortably and snugly around the foot, almost like a sock. Thanks to the airy material, the shoe breathes well, keeping your feet fresh even during sweaty sessions.

I ordered these shoes about 1/2 year ago when my plantar fasciitis was not helping at all. I have to walk a lot at work and my feet are sore sometimes. My physiotherapist recommended Altra shoes and I decided to try these. Absolutely the best shoes ever! Really light and soft shoes with a heel cushion that suits me. Really comfortable. And with these, the plantar pain has disappeared as the sole is thin but cushioned. And the mint green color is a wonderful plus! I will buy others when the time comes.

Altras bästa :)

The most comfortable model from Altra. Higher in volume than Superior, lower than Lone Peak, and with just the right amount of cushioning for asphalt. My foot is 24.5 cm long, and size 40 was perfect.

Love these shoes! I have a physical job where I walk a lot. I have previously had sore feet after work, and the shoes wore out quickly. Now I have worn my Altra shoes to work every day since I bought them (2 years ago..?) and they still work great! And best of all, my feet feel good and have no pain!
