With the Altra Escalante 5 on your feet, you're ready for runs on asphalt and other hard surfaces. The shoe combines low weight, close fit and comfortable cushioning with Altra's wide toe box and completely flat zero drop sole.
This updated version features a new tongue and redesigned collar for a classic, comfortable feel throughout your run. Altra EGO™ midsole foam provides a lightweight, soft, and responsive feel, while the updated rubber and EVA outsole adds durability and better ground contact.
NOTE: Always check the size chart before purchasing to reduce returns and save the environment.
Please note that Altra shoes run small, so you usually need to take a size larger than normal.
To get the right size, do this:
Measure your feet from heel to toe (e.g. with your heel against a wall and measure to the longest toe.) This is your foot measurement. Add about 0.8-1.5 cm extra room to get the correct size. Keep in mind that you may want to have a lot of extra room in running shoes because your feet swell when you get hot during exercise.

The Escalante 5 is lightweight and feels incredibly light and comfortable on the foot. The sole is completely flat from heel to toe, with no elevation under the heel. With a total sole thickness of 24 mm, the shoe provides a pleasantly cushioned feel, especially compared to thinner barefoot shoes. The outsole is adapted for hard surfaces such as asphalt and gravel roads.
The upper is made of textile and fits comfortably and tightly around the foot, almost like a sock. Thanks to the airy material, the shoe breathes well and keeps your feet fresh even during sweaty workouts.
