Yes, barefoot shoes are great for children, for several reasons. A young child’s feet are not fully developed, and it's normal for kids to have flat feet until school age, or even into their teens. Just like running barefoot outside in the summer is beneficial for a child’s motor skills and muscle development, barefoot shoes are the best option when shoes are needed.
A wide toe box ensures that the toes have room to grow naturally and don’t become misaligned.
A thin and flexible sole activates the foot muscles and helps develop strong feet, while also supporting balance and coordination.
A flexible sole is especially important when a child is learning to walk. During walking, we push off using the big toe joint, and if a stiff sole prevents that movement, the child’s step can become awkward and bouncy.
Barefoot shoes can be used right from a baby’s first pair of shoes and all the way into adulthood.
